How "Collette" became a Verb

There are words, phrases, and idioms in our lexicons which are based on people's names. Dr. Samuel Mudd treated John Wilkes Booth after Lincoln's assassination, which made him an abettor and he was convicted, losing his good standing, etc. Hence the phrase "His name is mud." A traitor is a Judas or Benedict Arnold. A person doesn't look up info on Google, they 'Google' info.

Recently I've been forced to add a new word to my own lexicon, based on my cousin Collette. She's a mother, wife, veteran, amateur comedienne, great friend, and the personification of the word 'atypical.' She also happens to be a damned good writer, which I discovered after I convinced her to write for our Facebook sports blog 'Voices from the Bleachers.' Since then I've pushed her into writing for the magazine Garden Spices, and I'm trying for more exposure on her behalf because her writing has the ability to blow me away. That's not usual.

A month or so ago, an old friend sent me her writings, telling me she wanted to start a blog. I was hesitant to offer my help at first, but I read her writings out of courtesy and curiosity. She "Colletted" me, and I jumped in to help her set up a blog on Facebook, 'Laurice; the Rediscovery.' I edit and schedule her posts, adding one of my own every now and again. Check out her page. Trust me.

Today I was "Colletted" again. A friend and drinking partner sent me an email for me to check out. Sigh. It's happened again. The piece is about mental health, apathy, and how a blind eye is normal behavior in certain sectors. I'll edit it later, then we'll find a space for it, either on a blog or in a magazine. It's that good. I wonder if she'll let me pair her with the real Collette, and they start a blog, because they both have something to say... that's an idea.

I have a feeling that I'll probably be colletted a lot in the near future. I'm looking forward to it...
