It's Deja Vu' All Over Again...

For those who've been riding with me on this journey for awhile, remember the summer of 2015? When I started the summer with writer's block? And in order to shake it, I wrote my first erotic story? Which led to a creative flood I thought could never be repeated or recreated. The material written that creatively idyllic summer resulted in 'Touching Myself,' 'Perceptions of Beauty,' 'Watching for Potholes,' 'Eleven Fifty-Nine,' 'Sippin Life at Lucky's Bar and Grill,' and other stuff which has not been published, finished, or cultivated. Five books from one massively creative summer. Sigh... too bad I don't have a time machine, right?

Allegedly, it's Spring 2018 (Mother Nature is off her meds!), and I seem to be in a familiar place creatively. A place where the music from 'The Twilight Zone' plays when I open the door. To be blunt and to the point, my mojo is working overtime. I haven't had writer's block since that summer, but there have been days and weeks when I wrote at a snail's pace.

Early last month I contracted a new PA (personal assistant), because my schedule is so demanding that I hadn't been able to do all of the things associated with writing. Editing, searching for publishers, submitting stories and poems, etc. And I respect the process too much to bullshit ever again. At any rate, I freed myself to focus more on simply writing. And the floodgates opened.

A billboard on the side of the highway inspired me to write a story called 'The Lottery Tickets' followed in rapid succession by 'Mr. Jasper's Porch,' 'Cases of Tissue,' 'The Grind,' 'The Deuce 225,' and 'The End of the Bench.' Meanwhile, I'm still working on a prequel to 'Eleven Fifty-Nine,' 'Singing to Butterflies.' I also dusted off a novella/novel, 'Over the Horizon,' a Western. Did ya catch all of that?

A conversation with a writer friend stirred some embers in my creative soul, causing me to reminisce about one of my favorite characters. Rosa, from an erotic story 'Make-Up Oil' (from Touching Myself, shameless plug!), came to mind. I had a lot of readers telling me they had a crush on Rosa, and I admit, so did I! Of course my mind went further, and a story about Rosa started bubbling. 'Shades of Pygmalion' is ushering in an erotic wave, which some might be glad to hear. Here we go again...

I don't know when or if my mojo will slow down or take a vacation. I haven't mentioned the magazine articles, blogs, or poems, which are all flowing as well. All I know is that these days, I'd rather be writing. I might disappear socially for awhile, but I gotta ride this wave... again.
