Get out yo' feelings

In the last couple of days, two very different people have said the same thing, over and over; "Get out yo' feelings." It wasn't due to me complaining or whining, but I got the message.

I mentioned the lack of support I receive from friends and relatives, tripping on how strangers shout me out, while loved ones ignore my efforts. I'm appreciative of all support, but I witness celebrities getting more support than me, and they don't need it. The response? "Get out yo' feelings. People rarely support ground roots movements, choosing to wait til success is achieved. They see you, just keep on grinding."

I have a tendency to push people towards their potential, which isn't appreciated. I have a good friend, smart, witty, and well liked, whom I've been pushing to go to bartending school, so they can eventually open a bar. They frustrate me, content to work a nine to five til they retire. I mentioned this to another friend the other night. Of course, their response was "Get out yo' feelings, every body's dreams aren't the same as yours." True.

Every action of someone else's doesn't require a reaction from me, whether their action was aimed at me or not. Subliminal messages, Facebook posts, conversations, etc., I feel I should say something to defend or offend. Well, I'm filtering myself, playing it cool, making sure I don't let emotions override logic. "Get out yo' feelings." Lesson learned...
